The Lane Raglan Zaaberry Style

A few weeks back, Adrianna of Crafterhours released her first pattern for women, The Lane Raglan.  I've been a huge Crafterhours fan for years and even got the opportunity to pattern test when The Greenpoint Cardigan pattern was in the making.
So, when on the day of the pattern release Adrianna said that 100% of the proceeds that day would go to charity, I absolutely couldn't say no.
This yellow version was the first one I made, and in typical fashion, I put my own twist on the pattern.
I wanted a shirt that was a little more tunic-like and made an asymmetrical hem.  The fabric is a heavyish weight knit. It's super comfortable, but the fabric isn't my favorite.  You can't see it so well in the picture, but the face of the fabric is kind of fuzzy and not so great looking.
I do like the way it looks from the back.  Guess I'll just have to walk around backwards.

My next Lane Raglan I did a pattern mix-up and used the Lane for the top of a Lady Skater.  If you're a frequent Zaaberry reader, you know how much I LOVE the Lady Skater Dress Pattern.
This version is nice, comfy, and very wearable.  I think I shortened the bodice a bit, and didn't use the elastic at the bottom.  The fabric is heavy enough that it didn't need it.  And though it does help stabilize the seam, I found that it's kind of pokey on the my other dresses.  So I was glad I didn't need it this time around.
I'm going to need to learn about a swayback adjustment.  The back puckers on all my dresses...
Any good tips?

KCWC - Raglan T

KCWC is such a great motivator to sit down and make clothes for the kids.  But, sometimes I find it overwhelming.  The other night I was paralyzed with indecision and ended up getting frustrated and doing nothing.  I did catch up on Project Runway, so that's something.
After a night off, I regained my motivation and threw together this shirt.
 FABRIC:  2 repurposed T-shirts
PATTERN: self drafted using an existing shirt, Rae's Skinny Tee pattern and Hey June's Greenpoint Cardigan Pattern.
RESULT: a perfect fit and he loves it.  He was even excited about the elbow patches.

Have a great weekend!

KCWC Project 1

My first completed project for KCWC.  The Greenpoint Cardigan is a new pattern from Adrianna of Crafterhours and now Hey June.
This is a really great pattern.  Easy to follow and make, comes in a great range of sizes, and can be done for a boy or a girl! How great is that.  I made this one from a stretchier than average sweatshirt fleece.  Perfect for fall.

This little handsome cutie reminded me of Mr. Rogers. He's ready for a big day in the neighborhood with his great snack sack.

Are you doing KCWC?  What are you making?

Skirt Week

Have you heard the news?  Crafterhours is hosting a whole month of skirt related posts and a little friendly skirt competition.

Check out all the info here.

What's fun is that you can enter any skirt you've made since July 1, 2011.  So if you made a skirt in the past, you can enter it now!  I pulled out my Simplicity 2226 skirt, which I made last fall and still love and wear A LOT.
I also made this skirt last month and haven't had a chance to photograph and post, until now.

I used the instructions from Simplicity 2226 to do the waist, but the rest is self-drafted.  The pockets were real, but ended up bunching funny, so I sewed them closed.

Can't wait to see all the fun skirt posts starting on May 21.

Do you have a skirt you're going to enter?

And, don't forget to enter the Emmaline Bag Pattern GIVEAWAY here.  The giveaway ends, Friday, May 18 at 11:59PM Eastern Time.
