Backpacks Are BACK....

 and they're better than before!

Last year, I sized up the Made by Rae Toddler Backpack for my kindergartener.  And now, for a limited time, I have a few for sale in my etsy shop.

Here are a few of the features of this enlarged and improved backpack.
Backpacks are fully lined with a medium weight cotton canvas and all seams are serged for extra durability.
Each backpack has a 14 inch, heavyweight, sport zipper which is more durable and also a little easier to zip.

These packs are 13.5 inches tall, 11.5 inches wide, and 4.25 inches deep.  The size fits a folder, lunch box, and snack pack perfectly.

Here the backpacks are shown on an almost 7 year old and almost 5 year old.  I wanted the backpack to be big enough to hold the essentials, but also small enough to be manageable on the bus and at school.

So get them while they last!

Back to School Backpack

In the blink of an eye, this little baby girl

became this big girl, heading off to kindergarten.

The first day was tough, but we all hung in there and she had a great time and can't wait to go back next week.  The backpack she was using seemed too big and heavy for her, so I finally used Rae's instructions to enlarge her toddler backpack and made a big kid backpack.

Miss M picked the fabric and was happy with the result.  I'm curious to see how it holds up on the back and forth trips to school 5 days a week.

If nothing else, at least I know I'm sending her off in style, with a little reminder of me on her back.

Baby Gifts

Lately the days seem to be flying by.  Not sure if it's because it's summer or just because that's life.  My oldest child is starting kindergarten in a few days and though I'm really excited for her, it's also a huge change in our life.  I can't help feeling like before we know it, it'll be high school graduation.
So in the midst of all the changes, I haven't been blogging too much.  I have some posts planned, but I'm trying to just enjoy the last few days of having my little girl at home.
I also started listing some backpacks in my shop again, which there has been high demand for with school right around the corner.  This cute turtle pack was a commission from my neighbor.  It's for her sister-in-law who is expecting a new baby boy in a few months.  Since it will be a while before he can actually use it, I added a cute little bib and washcloth set.
I got the idea to package the washcloths from Dana's burp cloth tutorial.  Definitely gives the set a nice look.

Another friend is expecting a baby in early October, so I made some cute bibs using my Scrappy Baby Bib Tutorial and some matching washcloths.

I love the colors and the way it all comes together.  Perfect little baby gifts.

I'm an Official Backpack Seller!

I'm so excited to announce that I just purchased my license to sell Made by Rae's Toddler Backpacks! I made a few for my kids as travel packs for our trip to Florida, and I'm hooked. I've got my supplies, I just need some time to actually make some.

Here's the one pack I've made so far, with some old IKEA fabric I had in my stash. I really like the contrasting red piping. Should be listed in my shop soon.

I made my packs smaller than Rae's original pattern because.....well, to be honest, my printer scaled it the first time and it came out smaller. But when I went back and printed the full size, I went back to the smaller pattern because I thought it worked better on my 2 and 4 year old.

So, if you're in need of a toddler or preschool backpack and don't want to buy the pattern and make your own.....check back soon!

Have a great week!
